Just So As You Know (Updated)

This blog is on hiatus while we try to figure out a few things. Sorry.

ETA: Just to clarify, we're OK and intending to keep up the blog. We just need a bit of a break and a brainstorming session to decide on our future course of action. We'll probably be back in due course, in some form or another.

Yours,

The Gym Girls

  11. I wish we all just lived in a world where our lives outside of gymnastics never interfered with us constantly updating our gymnastics blogs.

  12. I hope the Gym Gals never come back.

  13. I have only just realised that Nicole Watson, the youngest member of the GB Team, is only just 13. Didn't she do well?

  16. I would be completely happy with you publishing a good article ever once-in-a-while rather than trying to put out extensive articles all the time. You'd probably feel happier, too.

  19. Hey I'd love to help in any way possible. I speak french and love gymnastics. Want another researcher?

  20. Thanks for your support, everyone. We appreciate it!

Cidlover, I guess you understand better than most people how time-consuming it is to run a blog like this. We'll probably spend a bit less time on ours from now on, but we're trying to find a way to keep it up - to provide at least some news, as opposed to none at all.

Rosa, thanks for your offer. Much appreciated! We think we have enough French speakers on our team (three at last count). What we need most is someone to write our meet reports, as trying to cover every meet is becoming a bit of a chore. We'd also like to publish more opinion pieces, but it's kind of hard to find the time to write those when you're always busy translating and trying to find provide up-to-date meet coverage...

One of the things we're discussing at present is whether to focus on news and interviews from now on and leave the competition reports to others. Any input on that, dear readers?

  21. When I come to y'alls blog, I always look for the newest opinion pieces and the translated interviews. So leaving the competition reports off wouldn't affect me.

  22. Please come back (!!) like before... including the competition reports. I really enjoyed reading everything you wrote. Your blog has become my favorite gymnastics link on the web. Yes, it must be overwhelming time-consuming for you... but I hope you can continue at this level with more people on board. Personally, I prefer one very good site above several bloggers spread over the net who are up and down. Sofar, thanks for the great work you have done sofar.

  23. I think one of the best things about this blog is that you can get the translated interviews and the news that wouldn't be available otherwise whereas on the otherhand you can get the competition reports and results from viterally any other gymnast site

  24. I don't know what i like you more to write :D..I like the interviews but I also like your competition reports. If a have to choose I'll say 51% for competition reports and 49% for interviews.

  25. I like all the different content. I think you should do whatever appeals to you. I think having individual bylines would help as well.

  26. I love your blog, it is so informative for a gymnastics obsessor! I look forward to your return.

  27. This site has replaced IG for me. If only there were a Triple Full magazine! Much better, INTERNATIONAL gymnastics coverage, far less biased than IG, or perhaps I should say far better aligned to my own bias :P. I also prefer commenting here than posting on IG's forum, and Triple Full even 'published' my dreadful photoshopped pic!

So... choosing what I would see cut is difficult. But here is what I would most like to see more of: The translated interviews which concern Soviet/ Russian/ Ukrainian gymnastics and opinion pieces. Competition reports are great, but if they are too time-consuming, simple video links to outstanding routines (Viktoria Komova's amazing beam set, for instance) would do very nicely.

    jmo, and cheers!

  28. Please come back as before! It's great to have interviews, competition reports and all stuff in one place. I understad if you're not able to keep it this way, it must take a long time to write it all!, but I love your insight comments of the sport we love. Can I beg you to come back please please please?

  29. I like the competition reports because you also give a different perspective.

  30. I really like the competition reports, it's hard to find a real perspective of what has happened anywhere else, what is happening to the gymnastics blogging community?? First the C-score, then couch gymnast and double salto have not made any entries since early january; I will be so sad if triple full is discontinued completely- I really appreciate the effort that goes into keeping us all updated.
Hope you are back soon xxx

  31. Open a forum!? ;) Would really love that sort of content.

  32. I'm a little late, perhaps, but I (also) wanted to add that I love your blog, particularly the international coverage. It's seriously amazing! Your entries are well-written and thought-provoking. If anything has to go, I would appreciate it if it were the competition reports and NOT the translated articles which, as I said, I love. Best wishes with everything!

  33. O joy, Mike Brown's commenting on my blog now. There's a liability.

Anyways, you are very important to hardcore gymnastics fans. The people on the Gymworld forums cite your posts all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thanks everyone! :) We'll be back soon enough. We'll try to keep the competition reports, but just so as you know, they'll be the first thing to go if things get a little hectic around here.

Cidlover, get comment moderation! Works a treat.

  35. I agree Cidlover... he's commented now on my blog (including commenting on my inauguration post that it's the beginning of the Dark ages II *eye roll*) But I've rejected both of his comments. It's lovely.

The Gym Girls, if there's anything I can do to help let me know!

  36. Please come back in whatever form you like! Even with a quarter of the marvelous work you're been offering, it'll be great. Your articles are so unbiased and very well documented that I think if you give up, you will leave a huge empty room in the gymnastics internet space....

    please, continue. We love you!

  37. On a light-heated note, I noticed that you haven't covered Sandra Izbasa in a while. For a while I was afraid that you had become so obsessed with her that you were going to try to kill a president to impress her.
