We thought we'd share some very recent Chinese photos with you. The following pictures were taken in Beijing, where the national women's team recently did a photo shoot for the upcoming Chinese New Year (January 26). The actual photos will probably be published in a few weeks.
In some of the photos the girls seem to be rehearsing a dance of some kind - probably for the annual TV gala, which will probably be aired in 10 to 14 days. Yang Yilin is conspiciously absent from the proceedings, which suggests that she's still recovering from her back injury. On the other hand, Deng Linlin appears to be an active participant, and that probably means she's fully recovered from the minor knee surgery she underwent in November. Olympic alternate He Ning got to participate in the dance, which probably means she's considered a top prospect for 2009.
The pictures below suffer from oversharpening and resizing, but still, they're cute. Check out the shoes!

would it be possible for those in china to record the gala and upload it somewhere? or put a link on this website to some other place that has it? kinda sick of watching sections of it on youtube with some years having no videos.
ReplyDeleteAnyway thanks for the translations. much appreciated!
Thanks for the kind words, Anonymous. Glad to be of service!
ReplyDeleteAs to gala recordings, we hope a Chinese reader can help you out there...
age cheaters.
ReplyDeleteOh please, TCO. Not that again. Let's move on, shall we? :)
ReplyDeletei know that china doesn't have an age limit for drinking but i highly doubt that coach lu shanzhan would let his "12" year old gymnasts drink.

p.s. u can't buy alochol if ur under 18 but theres nothing on drinking it.
Trying to drive up your comments. Geopolitics and sex weren't doing it. So back to China age cheating. Give me an opening and I can do some Nastia bashing. Darn open-legged double front code whore.
ReplyDeleteThanks TCO, but there's no need to drive up our comments, least of all with Nastia code-whoring comments. We can do without those. If our readers wish to comment on our stories, they will. If they don't, they don't. No need to goad them into commenting, OK? :)
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, thanks for the Yeruyun pics. We think the Chinese have a healthier atittude to underage drinking than the Americans, and we're glad the Chinese coaches will allow their girls a few sips of wine, bubbly or apple juice (who knows what's in those glasses?) at official banquets!
8 year olds wihtout baby teeth getting sloshed. Sacramone is sexy.
ReplyDeleteSigh.
ReplyDeleteI lub you. :)
ReplyDeleteOh...and I support the UKR gas theives.
ReplyDeleteDarn it, TCO is here now?
ReplyDeleteAnyways, I love the Chinese team and I love this blog for covering them in length! Best. Gymn. Blog. Ever!!
I'm so happy to see He Ning still in it.
TCO, on-topic comments only from now on, if you please. Seriously. Consider this a warning.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, thanks for the kind words! We'll strive to keep the Chinese news coming. We share your happiness about He Ning's continued presence on the national team. Doesn't she have the most gorgeous arms and hands?
I'll try. Will still troll. But on topic.
ReplyDeleteNo, no more trolling, TCO. We're serious. Don't say we didn't warn you.
ReplyDeleteI thought I could "on topic troll". Just not off topic. Don't make my prison too small.
